Head Chef

We recruit staff of the highest calibre who will work closely with us and who are committed to providing the very best standard of care for those living with dementia. Team members are chosen for their ability to show warmth and support to our residents and their families, and their determination to positively enhance the lives of individuals in our care. We look for:

  • A genuine interest in caring for people living with dementia and enhancing the quality of their lives
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work with a range of clients and attend to their needs by delivering physical, psychological and social care
  • Compassion for people living with dementia
  • Confidence in working with people who have behavioural needs
  • Motivation to actively contribute to the smooth running of the home
  • A desire to develop skills and knowledge through on the job training

Head Chef

HOURS: 46 per week (earliest starting time is 7.30am, latest finishing time 6.30 pm, often working 11 hour days, working alternate weekends)
HOURLY PAY RATE: £10.87 + enhancements

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to run the kitchen, and manage a small staff team. You will be responsible for ensuring food is freshly home-made with a changing menu to suit the residents likes dislikes and any medical requirements.
There are approximately 55 covers each day consisting of a continental breakfast, a 2 course lunch providing 3 choices, afternoon cakes and a hot and cold supper.
We also enjoy having parties and events and the chef is closely involved, providing suitable party food to suit e.g. fancy cakes, canapés, birthday cakes and buffets. The kitchen is fully equipped with 5 stars from EHO, which must be maintained.
This is a physical busy and important role.

You will need to speak good English to be able to communicate with the elderly residents.
You will need to have a qualification in cooking with experience, perhaps suitable for a second chef looking to manage their own kitchen, or a kitchen manager looking to work more sociable hours. The head chef will be supported by an experienced 2nd chef.
A clear DBS result and good references and the ability to start within 6 weeks are expected.
