Griffiths House is part of the Cote Charity, which for more than forty years has provided retirement housing and a range of care options for older people in Bristol. The charity was founded in 1955 by Miss Katherine Gotch Robinson, who bought Cote House at Westbury-on-Trym in Bristol and transformed the building into flats for older residents.
In 1968 the Society of Merchant Venturers was appointed Trustee for the Cote Charity, bringing to the charity the Society's vast experience and resources in providing care for older people. Katherine House opened in 2009 and in 2015 the Cote Charity took the decision to develop a purpose built, dedicated dementia care home on the same site as Katherine House, which is due to open in July 2016.
The work undertaken by the Cote Charity is also supported by The Grateful Society. This benevolent organisation provides valuable resources and funds, enhancing the care provided to residents.
