We would like to give a grand welcome to the new Manager of Katherine House & Griffiths House, Leanne Thorne! Leanne is very excited to meet all the residents, staff, family and friends of the home. As an energetic and approachable person, she looks forward to bringing new experiences to the residents and promoting an open-door ethos. Leanne is a nurturing manager and enjoys coming to work to make a difference to people and their lives. Having worked in Social Care for 26 years, Leanne brings a variety of experience. She has worked with elderly people, as well as people with Dementia, Learning Disabilities and in mental health settings. This included 15 years working for South Gloucestershire council in all their residential care home homes, five years at Frenchay House residential care home and working as a strategic manager for another Charity. Training as an NVQ Assessor to support staff gain their qualifications as well as working with a training provider delivering NVQs to care homes across the South west, she became a mental health champion to support staff and residents to understand their own mental health challenges. Leanne has always been in care in various roles over the years and she proudly claims, she cannot see herself doing anything else. Outside of work Leanne is a keen animal lover. She is married with two boys who play football day and night and we're looking forward to her joining in with all the fun here!
